Project Manager

This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted June 9, 2018.

Under the supervision of the Director of Medical Educational Services, the incumbent administers, analyzes, supervises, manages and directs the delivery and outcome of Information Technology projects, involving departmental and cross-cultural teams, external consultants or service providers to respond to the needs, goals and missions of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) and Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) units. This includes the integration of an information systems strategy and the development and implementation of myMDCM, Royal College e-Portfolio, and myPGME. Ensures compliance with legislation and use of best practices. Oversees the planning and control of the scope, quality, schedule, budget, staff, and deliverables of projects related to Competency Based Medical Education and the Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of projects related to myMDCM, Royal College e-Porttfolio, and myPGME, including initiation, planning, execution, closing and monitoring and controlling.
  • Provide administrative oversight towards large-scale IT projects for the delivery and management of systems within UGME and PGME groups, in support of technological development and administration.
  • Make recommendations on human resources needs.
  • Plan, develop and implement the unique combination of data processing workflows and protocols for a given IT project to meet the needs defined by PGME and UGME units. Develop project budgets.
  • Research and analyze new and emerging technology related to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and be abreast of the latest technological advances that could be used for the successful deployment of a given IT project.
  • Ensure that software development and project analysis is proceeding in a continuous manner such that the most efficient methodology is used.
  • Liaise and work with clients and stakeholders at the University to ensure proper advancement of projects. Build relationship with outside contractors and service providers.
  • Use professional expertise, specialized skills and knowledge to prioritize, plan and evaluate PGME and UGME IT project planning and timelines, including identifying conflicts in schedules and links with other IT projects. Recommend corrective solutions.
  • Advise others and implement project management policies, process and standards related to the applicable unit needs. Ensure compliance with respect to technical standards, regulations and IT requirements.
  • Evaluate existing or proposed systems. Write and produce progress reports, financial reports and provide regular updates on project status to committee members, project team, stakeholders, etc. to properly monitor progress of IT projects.
  • Oversee PGME & UGME IT project delivery processes to ensure that specific IT aims are being attained in terms of implementation.
  • Participate at meetings, make recommendations and provide advice and guidance to unit members on direction of IT initiatives to resolve issues as required.
  • Ensure IT projects meet the administrative and data management needs of the PGME & UGME units in support of the Faculty’s teaching mission and for accreditation reporting.
  • Supervise UGME and PGME IT project staff and evaluate progress of assignments and results.

Minimum Education & Experience:

Undergraduate degree

Three (3) years’ related experience
