To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description What You’ll Be Doing This role manages two teams and individual contributors, complementing a team of other Directors who collectively are responsible to manage the operational aspect of cyber security for CIBC.

This specific role is responsible for the Security Operations Centre (SOC).

You’ll join CIBC’s Security Operations Centre (SOC) team to lead a group of Information Security professionals working together towards achieving the same goal – protecting Our Bank, Our Clients, and Our Employees.

As a Director of the SOC, you will be responsible for the guidance and oversight of several SOC teams and functions in order to keep CIBC secure.

You’ll also lead and coordinate the adherence to CIBC’s Information Security’s (IS) detection and response policies, processes, standards and workflows that guide and support information security goals across the organization.

In addition to leading members toward excellence in information security monitoring, detection and response, you’ll also help the SOC to innovate, including implementation and utilization of best-in-class security solutions.

As a leader in IS, you’ll also contribute to and influence the delivery of IS incident management, reporting (metrics) and Security Operations improvements.

As a people leader, you’ll lead talent planning, career development, mentoring, coaching and feedback to team members while evaluating team member performance leading to continuous optimization of the teams.

Lastly, success in the SOC includes building partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance business value and is a large part of the role.

How You’ll Succeed Leadership and team management
– Management of staff and indirect staff, including performance, coaching, administration, training, etc.

Accountability for the SOC function
– Report & govern IS incidents and remediation, including regular escalations.

Helps to coordinate the daily reporting to inform IS Leadership of IS incidents and response actions to new and emerging threats.

Manages the Operational aspects of the SOC monitoring and triage capabilities in line with industry best practices.

Contribute to the effective detection and response function that identifies new and emerging threats in a timeframe that allows the organization to establish protective measures against those threats.

Assist and support operational reports, metrics, KPI, KRI & OKR related to IS incidents and incident handling.

Drive continuous improvement within mandate.

Deliver operational aspect of projects pertaining to the SOC and SOC tools.

Participate in strategy & roadmaps for the SOC and IS incident management.

Participate in audit, compliance and regulatory work, within the enterprise and regions as it relates to SOC functions.

Relationship Management with Stakeholders
– Vendor & relationship (co-)management pertaining to SOC capabilities.

Work with peers to collectively manage IS risk throughout the bank.

Establish, build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts within the Technology / Intel / Corporate Security communities to stay abreast of notable internal/external developments and technology trends.

Serve as an expert advisor to senior and executive level management on issues pertaining to IS incident management Who You Are You can demonstrate experience in the ability to influence senior stakeholders in situations that require cooperation and consensus.

Must have leadership experience, ideally in the Information Security field or related role.

Must have 5 years of information security experience.

Prior experience in the management of a SOC is an asset.

CISSP/CISM preferred.
