Director, Growth And Transition Capital – Vancouver

The Director of Growth and Transition Capital (GTC) responsibilities include the following: 1) originate, evaluate and underwrite financing and investment opportunities that are consistent with BDC Capital’s investment criteria; 2) actively monitor, develop and implement portfolio risk management strategies; 3) proactively develop and implement value added plans for their portfolio including but not limited to leveraging external and internal resources to support portfolio clients to achieve their goals.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET Contribute to the development of the Bank’s Growth and Transition Capital portfolio by managing transactions (level I); that may be complex (level II); complex (level III) as well as customer contacts/negotiations for Growth and Transition Capital activities Source investigate and evaluate proposals to determine their viability, undertake due diligence and, if applicable, develop subordinate financing proposals in accordance with Bank standards and procedures Exercise sound judgment in dealing with approaches to financing, processing applications and maintaining relationships with customers Provide close and ongoing monitoring and sound administration of all Growth and Transition Capital accounts Ensure that all client needs are met by identifying opportunities for the BDC Financing and Advisory Services groups to serve customer needs and maintaining a close knowledge of the capacity and expertise of the network Liaise with other players with players in our ecosystem to exchange information and expertise and determine how developments in those organizations have, or could have, an impact on the BDC’s Growth and Transition Capital operations Build relationships with entrepreneurs, associations, influencers, chartered banks and others to raise public awareness of the BDC’s Growth and Transition Capital Collaborate with and promote BDC’s other products/services at every available opportunity and maintain a close liaison with all other areas within BDC Recommend improvement to policies and processes relating to Growth and Transition Capital activities Participate in the development, recommendation and implementation of a marketing plan strategy for the business centre related to Growth and Transition Capital (levels II & III only) WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance or equivalent Professional designation (MBA, CFA, CBV, CPAs or other relevant designation) preferred Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mezzanine, private equity, investment banking or corporate banking industry Good experience in business development Good experience in investment analysis, structuring, negotiating and writing Good knowledge in business evaluation Sound credit judgement Excellent ability to work in a team Creative and resourceful Autonomous Drive to succeed Bilingualism is considered an asset EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER At BDC, we value diversity in our workforce and encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
