Coordinator, Youth and Senior Programming

YMCA of Quebec

This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted February 11, 2019.

Are you a dynamic, inspiring, motivating, organized and creative individual? Do you love to help young people reach their full potential? Are you a leader with management experience (human resources, volunteers, budget, planning, evaluation)? If so, we want to meet you! With the support of Community Initiatives director, the candidate’s main mandate will be to plan, execute and develop programs for youth (ages 12 to 17), and seniors (60 yrs +) at the Downtown YMCA. 85% of the task is youth related. Possibility that the chosen candidate will also supervise the coordinator of a second Youth Zone at another YMCA.


  • Develops and implements the annual program action plan and offers quality services in accordance with the values and principles of the YMCAs of Québec.
  • Develops flexible programming that meets the needs of participants using a proactive and holistic approach.
  • Supervises (recrutement, evaluation, support) a team of youth workers, animators and volunteers (4-9 employees et 10-15 volunteers).
  • Intervenes and animates activities for youth / seniors (as reqd).
  • Creates, follows and operates within the budget, and provides regular updates.
  • Works closely with citizens, community organizations and boroughs, and develops cordial relationships and partnerships with them.
  • Acts as representative before relevant bodies and participates in various youth/senior related events.
  • Regularly assesses the impact of the youth and senior programs.
  • Adheres to the YMCA’s Child Protection Policies and Procedures.
  • Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy, and participates in the Annual Campaign and/or other fundraising events.


  • Undergraduate degree in intervention, leisure studies or social sciences (social work, psychology or a related field).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience intervening with teens, and managing community programs.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written).
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (occasionaly).
  • First aid and CPR certifications (an asset).
  • Have no criminal record in connection with employment.
