In collaboration with the Operation Companies Produce Merchandising Manager, facilitate the effective distribution of Category 11 products and services to customers through Sysco Broadline Operating Companies. Establish and execute strategy for the produce category to meet or exceed profitable sales targets. Provide training, product information, and customer service to internal and external customers in support of the distribution of products and services.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the sales force and customers by providing produce expertise. Attends external customer visits and internal customer business reviews to showcase produce products, answer questions and make recommendations based on customer needs, potential volume, profitability, and exposure to shrinkage.
  • Manages the implementation, development and growth of Sysco Produce Brands in the Quebec market.
  • In partnership with the Produce Merchandiser, maintains contact with all outside suppliers of products or services to our distribution business with regard to product offerings.
  • Organizes and expedites product training for the customers, Marketing Associates and customer service.
  • Stays abreast of all market trends and conditions in the produce industry and shares information as appropriate with managers, sales force, and customers.
  • Ensures adequate records, systems, and product line analysis to achieve the desired level of profit management.
  • Participates in all marketing and trade association activities where required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Completion of post-secondary education, preferably with a Business, Hotel/Restaurant or Marketing/Sales concentration, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in a Produce Sales role is required, 5 years preferred.
  • Culinary background an asset.
  • Superior communication and presentations skills, both oral and written in French and in English.
  • Exceptional problem solving, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation.
  • PC skills including the use of Microsoft Office products are required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Travel – up to 75%
