What we are looking for: Immersion is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer who is excited to incorporate the sense of touch into human computer interfaces.

The successful candidate will be involved in ideation, design, development, and implementation of electronic elements in our haptic interfaces in ground-breaking areas like virtual/augmented reality, mobile devices, tactile internet, and automotive.

The Senior Electronics Engineer will report to the VP of R&D, who oversees and supervises all development and innovation efforts in the company.

The successful candidate must have proven experience in hands-on design of embedded systems electronics for medium and high-volume consumer products.

The candidate must have direct experience with digital electronics including 8, 16, and 32bit microcontrollers; experience designing power electronics is also highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have a strong documented record of taking electronic designs with small to mid-size volume from concept to production.

Familiarity with the unique challenges designing for larger volume, low cost applications, including tolerance analysis, failure analysis and critical component identification is highly desirable.

This position requires both the ability to work independently and to make collaborative, creative contributions within a project group.

It also requires interaction with several other teams beyond the advanced development team, including user experience (UX) and Research groups.

A strong team-oriented mindset with a self-starter attitude is essential.

What you will do: The responsibilities of this role include coordinating work with internal personnel and with Immersion’s partner companies.

The candidate should have the ability to make sound technical decisions, prioritize project deadlines, and follow up with critical items.

Responsibilities Develop low cost and high-volume embedded system solutions This includes their design, simulation, evaluation, and optimization PCB layout design and implementation for digital and analog systems Be ready to ‘make’ prototypes Work closely with electromechanical and firmware engineers Support research activities as needed Develop significant specialized knowledge in several areas of haptics Develop intellectual property of all kinds, including contributing to patent applications Create reference designs related to haptic interfaces Travel abroad as needed to present your work Your Qualifications should include: BSEE or equivalent, MS preferred 3-5 years Product Development experience taking new products from concept to mass production Experience on digital and mixed-signal PCB design and implementation Experience with the Altium Designer PCB design software Experience with complete design cycle of embedded systems from concept to production Experience working with USB, SPI, UART, CAN, I2C, and Bluetooth communication interfaces Knowledge of sensor interfacing and simple analog signal conditioning Some experience designing power electronics Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work in multidisciplinary groups and alone Ability to travel to the U.S.A., Asia and Europe Additional pluses include: Developed firmware solutions for embedded applications Knowledge of SPICE, MicroSim, XPC, Matlab, Simulink or other simulation tools
