Manager of Health, Safety and Environment

You have strong HSE management skills in the field and are ready to take on new challenges in a growing and stimulatingenvironment?Logistec is looking for an individual with excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills to fill the position of Manager of Health, Safety and Environment for our operations in Québec. The successful candidate will report to the GeneralManager of HSE.

Your responsibilities:

Providing support to our various locations across Québec and assisting their management teams with the following :

  • Implementing health and safety initiatives and tools to meet company objectives;
  • Implementing inspection and audit programs;o Implementing health and safety plans, policies and procedures in compliance with the applicable regulationsand company requirements;
  • Maintaining a system for reporting, monitoring and rectifying gaps in safety;
  • Promoting HSE, and broadcasting and celebrating successes to maintain and reinforce commitment;
  • Implementing recognition systems;

Assisting supervisors with the required accident management documentation ;
Coaching supervisors on the implementation of Toolbox meetings ;
Contributing to the implementation of training programs to familiarize staff with safety practices and to promote a safetyculture ; Contributing to the implementation of emergency plans ;
Monitoring activities that involve risk and stopping any operation or activity that poses an imminent danger to staff orequipment ;
Taking on supervision duties in accordance with the company’s principles and policies.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field that is relevant or related to Health, Safety and Environment;
  • Health and safety certificate (asset) ;
  • Minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of experience in HSE management ;
  • Working knowledge of the 5S, Behaviour Based Safety and Dupont programs ;
  • Experience with OH&S prevention in manufacturing and unionized industries ;
  • Excellent ability to maintain good relations at all hierarchical levels ;
  • Political awareness and a positive attitude ;
  • Good understanding of current Québec, Canadian and American laws, regulations and standards regarding health andsafety, and of the CNESST’s policies ;
  • Priority management skills ;
  • Ability to work in a team and in an environment where change is rapid and constant ;
  • Fluency in English and French essential (spoken and written) ;
