Heavy Equipment Trainer

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: PERMANENT

POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED : 1

DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES

PLACE OF WORK: NUNAVIK

WORK SCHEDULE: The normal work schedule is on a rotation of 6 paid weeks: 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks of rest.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trainer reports to the Training and Recruitment Chief. Its main responsibilities are:

 Assumes the responsibility, on site of the training and the evaluation of all the employees in the mobile maintenance department; Offers this same service to employees of on-site contractors;

 Identifies training needs based on technical and health and safety improvements of equipment or vehicles;

 Develop training plans by equipment and by vehicle, according to the standards and characteristics of the different equipment or vehicles for the purpose of improving and optimizing heavy equipment and machinery, mobile vehicles, etc. ;

 Participate in the realization of training materials (technical documentation, audio-video support, etc.) and defines the didactic means and tools necessary for training;

 Ensures the smooth running of training and ensures quality and follow-up to meet legislative and corporate requirements;

 Collaborate with other departments in setting up and / or maintaining various health and safety training projects;

 Contributes to the drafting of internal policies and procedures related to his field of activity, more specifically in relation to the operations / maintenance of the concentrator;

 Provides training to employees and contractors who are based at the site;

 Produces the reports and statistics required for the training department

REQUIREMENT

 Diploma of professional vocational studies in Mechanics of construction equipment or equivalent;

 Have 5 to 8 years of experience as a trainer; experience in mobile maintenance training and road vehicles and heavy machinery;

 Have a minimum of 8 years as construction equipment mechanic, drill and / or light vehicle mechanic;

 Good knowledge of SIS / ET Caterpillar

 Experience in the field of mining is an asset;

 Excellent command of the various software of the MS Office suite;

 Hold a valid driver’s license;

 Bilingualism (French – English).

 Present relational and pedagogical skills;

 Strong ability in managing change with the ability to establish strategic issues for achieving results;

 Experience in advisory role, management team support and employee relations; Excellent teamwork and communication skills;

 Autonomy and strong sense of work organization, experiences with Inuit communities, an important asset;

 Excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
