This is a Full-time position in Montreal, QC posted October 8, 2019.

Job Description We’re seeking a Head Roaster and Quality Control to take the reins of a small specialty coffee roaster that aims to change the status quo, both within coffee generally and within specialty.

This person will be initially largely exclusively in charge of running the day to day roastery operations, and involved with growing this team as the business grows.Our focus is on truly relational sourcing, with all of our coffee coming from established relationships in select coffee growing regions that allow for us to commit to real sustainability projects with our partners and to connect our consumers as closely and transparently with these producers.Though a specialty roaster, we are not dogmatic about roast style as much as we are about transparency and producer empowerment.

Those who are seeking a new opportunity to do something different, amongst a supportive team, with tons of independence are encouraged to apply.Requirements Managing daily roasting operations: setting and replicating roast profiles, taking, processing and packaging orders, answering client correspondence Implementing and overseeing Quality Control protocols: regular cuppings and physical assessments for the purpose of evaluating roast quality and consistency.

Inventory management: Working in conjunction with the Green Buyer to cooridinate purchasing schedules and to manage roastery inventory.Qualifications Ideal candidate would have at least 2-3 years roasting experience, but those with other coffee experience are encouraged to apply.

Those without roasting experience should be able to discuss and understand coffee regions and varietals, as well as be experienced in cupping and tasting coffee generally.

Ability to be self-directed, extremely organized, and work independently.

Passion and engagement a must, as well as high standards for work performance.

French is not absolutely necessary but is a plus.
