Cyber Defence Tech Lead


This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted May 10, 2022.

As a Senior IT Security Consultant, you will contribute to the protection of hardware, software and data resources from modification, destruction, accidental or unauthorized disclosure, authentication and access control, including the design, administration and monitoring of proven security systems. Following vulnerability analyses of information systems, you will help implement protections to maintain, restore and secure systems.

  • Act as the lead on projects, mandates and development activities specific to your area of expertise that have a major scope and impact on the company and may be organization-wide in scope;
  • Identify, capture, analyze and interpret the information required to support operational planning, decision-making and control processes for the application of current management policies and practices;
  • Based on risk analyses, write various reports and recommendations. Provide consulting support in the implementation of these recommendations;
  • Participate in the preparation and proposal of action plans likely to promote the resolution of situations encountered, in accordance with generally recognized guidelines and rules. Ensure the implementation of action plans in accordance with the company’s safety standards and rules;
  • Develop and write methods, work processes and reports, and ensure the validity of data;
  • Ensure the development of programs in support of your unit’s projects and strategic mandates;
  • Identify and analyze major issues and problems. Establish diagnoses and make recommendations to the appropriate authorities. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Produce analyses on functionalities or tools;
  • Write guides and procedures related to the field of activity;
  • Analyze problematic situations and suggest solutions in accordance with the organization’s governance and security frameworks;
  • Contribute to the implementation of secure technological solutions, necessary for the advancement of projects under his/her responsibility, and collaborate on detailed architectures in his/her field of expertise and on the implementation plans of solutions meeting the evolving needs and technological targets of the organization;
  • Support other team members in day-to-day execution;
  • Participate in the development of corporate targets and their transition strategy;
  • Be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Monitor and anticipate current trends and best practices in his/her field of expertise;
  • Coach internal resources;
  • Participate in the resolution of safety-related situations.
When it just clicks!
Does this sound like you?
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in the cybersecurity field;
  • Experience:
    • on large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders;
    • popularizing the needs and requirements of solutions, processes, tools;
    • in the design or implementation of infrastructures;
    • writing technical and executive documentation;
    • in Agile/Scrum mode.
  • Knowledge in the following areas of expertise: cyber defence operations, infrastructure security, endpoint protection, cloud security (Azure, Google or AWS);
  • Familiarity with security concepts (security and orchestration events);
  • Excellent knowledge of security related ecosystems: asset management and discovery/SIEM/SOAR/Vulnerability management (VM)/Risk Management (RM)/Data Loss Prevention (DLP)/endpoint/fraud/internal/external threats/attack angles, Shadow IT, IoT, etc);
  • Generic knowledge in infrastructure: Proxy, firewalls, Active Directory, DNS, telecommunications (network interconnection);
  • Understanding of overall security concepts as a cross-functional capability: identity management, access management, data management, logging, automation and monitoring;
  • Excellent knowledge of monitoring/detection and response (SOC);
  • Knowledge of:
    • log and event consolidation solutions and related advanced search;
    • security repositories (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, etc.);
    • the Confluence tool for documentation;
    • the Jira tool for managing and tracking stories and backlog.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Communication with teams in French and English. Intermediate level of English, both oral and written, is required:
