Audio Specialist

This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted March 28, 2018.

Position summary:

Reporting to the Assignments and Resources Director, the incumbent will act as a link between the client and the different internal departments at Solotech for all the steps of the development of a technical audio project.

The audio specialist is mainly assigned to large-scale corporate events, but can be solicited for other types of mandates is his field of expertise. A good understanding of the corporate industry is required to succeed in this position.

Main responsabilities:

  • At any moment of the production, act as a technical lead to insure the end result is at or above company’s standards;
  • Receive the requests related to a specific project, plan and develop an equipment list according to said project;
  • In cooperation with the technical coordination team, coordinate audio sub-rentals and transfers if needed;
  • Propose solutions for different issues and suggest improvements for the project’s technical realization;
  • Work closely with internal and external partners in order to ensure high quality customer service;
  • Act as Solotech’s representative on event’s specific site, coordinate on site operations related to his technical department, and ensure all steps of the technical realization are executed within the foreseen delays;
  • May act as the client’s contact person for all questions, comments or changes related to the project’s management;
  • Ensure the good installation of the equipment in respect of the plan;
  • Ensure the safety of the technical installations, at all times;
  • Respect and promote procedures and regulations fixed by Solotech regarding the equipment’s treatment and management;
  • Collaborate with the other departments involved during the event;
  • Advise and guide the technicians according to his own expertise in solving issues.

Level of education :

  • College degree in a relevant field or any other relevant training or equivalent experiences.

Work experience :

  • 7 plus years’ experience in live event production, with a minimum of 4 plus years specific to the corporate event environment. Entertainment experience an asset.

Requested skills :

  • Large scale corporate and convention experience required;
  • Fluent in CAD and/or Vectorworks;
  • Ability to create comprehensive technical “one-line” drawings to illustrate system design and flow;
  • Strong knowledge in pro audio and experienced with all major audio manufacturers ;
  • Availability to travel frequently to customers site and event venues;
  • Production Management, Video, Lighting, Rigging experience an asset;
  • Experience with R2 and inventory management an asset;
  • Demonstrates highly competitive nature and persistence to drive results;
  • Demonstrated excellent skills for selling and a strong customer service orientation;
  • Strong relational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
