Vice President of Operations

Job Purpose:

The Vice President Operations effectively directs the facilities’ operations by executing strategic plans, formulating policies, defining KPIs for efficient process and production, and cost management to meet and exceed the organizations goals and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

Direct and partner with the Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager, and Quality Control to ensure processes and costs management to maximize efficient purchasing, manufacture and distribution of product to meet or exceed company goals.
Active member of the Leadership Team; strategize, execute, and communicate to Operations, Production / Purchasing / Quality
Review reports and other performance data in coordination with Production, Purchasing and Quality to measure productivity and goal achievement to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement
Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure maximum productivity and minimal downtime
Track, monitor, control and reduce shrink as per company targets – i.e., inventory, spoilage, purge
Assess capital expenditure requirements and make recommendations based on business needs
Prepare in coordination with Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Sales, the annual budgets and effectively manage expenses; review actuals vs. budgets and take corrective action as required
Establish and maintain effective communication regarding labour and product with Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Quality, Supervisors, and Senior Management team
Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Production and Quality Management of incoming product, inventory monitoring, and special projects
Ensure the building, systems, and production equipment and exterior grounds are maintained at a high level of reliability, availability and safe operating condition
Monitor and control costs and yields as per company targets
Ensure health, safety and policies are adhered to
Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Team; participate in various interdepartmental meetings to resolve issues and improve efficiencies
Play significant role in long-term planning, geared to operational excellence
Coaching and motivating Operations employees

Educational Requirements:

Education required: Degree in Operations Management or related field

Other Education/Certification/Training preferred: Business Administration, WHMIS, Forklift, First Aid

Work Experience Requirements:

Work experience required: 10+ years Manufacturing Environment

Job related experience required:

Solid understanding of the gear industry

Experience in executive level management

Technical requirements:

Equipment: Standard office equipment

Software: Proficiency in Microsoft programs, Internet, ERP (Syspro)
