Position Overview:
Mechanic (or Apprentice) – Heavy Equipment or Truck and Transport

Under the authority of the Mechanic Supervisor, the Mechanic (or Apprentice) is responsible to repair and maintain the company’s fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment including loaders, trucks, liebherr cranes, forklifts, skid steers, trailers etc.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Duties
• Effectively diagnose issues with equipment
• Disassemble and reassemble parts, as necessary
• Ensure that the equipment is repaired to the company standards
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
• On-call for the Snow Removal Crew during the winter season, mandatory
• Any other duty deemed appropriate and necessary by the Mechanic Supervisor

2. Responsibilities
• Follow all the safe work practices and procedures at all times
• Work safely at all times
• Keep work areas clean and clutter-free
• Make sure that all tools are put away after use
• Notify the Mechanic Supervisor immediately of any accidents including damage to equipment
• Always wear the proper PPE

Training and Certifications
• Diploma (Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic) or Apprentice
• Fall Arrest
• Manlift theory
• Manlift Practical
• Safety Orientation
• TDS (short version)

Key Requirements and Attributes
• Diploma (Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic) or Apprentice
• Autonomous, quick leaner, efficient
• Good manual dexterity
• Comfortable in a fast paced environment
