Specialist Project Management – Sales Marketing and Customer service

Job Summary

The Specialist, Project and Portfolio Management is accountable for managing end-to-end planning and delivery of one or multiple projects to meet customer expectations while remaining within the approved scope, time and budget and ensuring the delivery of quality products. This role will actively participate in the deployment of project governance and standards. The person will be responsible to supervise the team members. (Matrix Management).

This role will be initially focused in the Sales, Marketing and Customer Service area of CN working with  I&T, industry and business partners

 

Main responsibilities

Project Management- 70%

•Develop the delivery approach including timeline, budget and resource plans to meet the business needs and architecture guidance.

•Identify and evaluate risks and dependencies creating mitigation plans to address them

•Work with internal and external sources to obtain the resources required for the delivery plan

•Work with integration partners on larger initiatives to ensure that deliverables expected by CN business partners meet the required business value and align with the agreed on scope

•Execute project plan, monitor project progress against project plan and ensure project remains on scope, on time and on budget while ensuring the completeness and quality of all project

•Ensure successful transition of the project deliverables to core support.

 

Scope Management – 30%

•Work with product management and business partners to agree on scope to be delivered and ensure delivery teams stay aligned to the commitment

•Review deliverables provided by integration partners to ensure they remain withing the agreed on scope and timeline

•Work with integration partners and business to address any issues that arise

•Accountable for the delivery items assigned including scope, budget and timeline recommendations brought to the steering committees.

•Makes budget, resourcing and risk decisions within the scope of the assigned delivery items

 

Requirements

Education/Certification/Designation

•Bachelors or similar experience in a related field

 

Skills/Knowledge

•Experience with program, project or delivery management

•Experience with budget planning, projections and reporting

•Risk Management mindset and capabilities

•Experience with resource estimation, planning and management

•Strong collaboration skills including the ability to influence and understand other viewpoints

•Experience with business analysis, process optimization and scope management

•Experience overseeing internal and external delivery teams

•Ability to create RFI/RFP and SOW for integration partners

•Ability to balance requirements and concerns from different stakeholders (business, finance, IT, etc.) and make efficient judgement calls, providing clear rationale for decisions

•Ability to influence and orient business and technical audiences toward common goals and approaches

•Ability to navigate complex organizations such as CN and build collaborative cross functional relationships

•Ability to efficiently communicate with people of varying seniority and backgrounds

•Ability to collaborate with and guide external development/configuration partners

•Autonomous and self driven, at the same time knowing when to reach out and how to provide adequate visibility

•Capacity to engage on multiple concurrent initiatives efficiently

•Curious and interested in acquiring knowledge over multiple new business domains and technologies

 

Experience

•3 to 5 years in a project management role or related experience

Assets (if applicable)

•Experience in Sales & Marketing related fields

•Experience in Customer Service related fields

•Experience with analytics and business intelligence solutions

•Bilingualism (spoken and written) with high proficiency in English and working proficiency in French
