Technical Advisor

The Technical Advisor is an integral part of the customer’s Account Management team which is composed of an Account Manager and a Technical Advisor. The duo is responsible for managing the customer relationship. The Technical Advisor is the client’s trusted technology advisor and is accountable for all technology that is deployed in the client’s organization and is responsible to make all major technology-related decisions on behalf of his or her clients.

Working in collaboration, first, with the sales team, the Technical Advisor is a key player in the closing stages of the sales process, building and presenting an IT evolution/transition plan to address the identified needs of the potential customer.  Second, in collaboration with the client’s Account Manager, The Technical Advisor ensures that the business requirements are fully met by the technology solution being offered, and that additional projects and services are recommended and implemented to continually maximize the customer’s use of available technology solutions as they evolve and as business requirements change. The Technical Advisor interacts closely with the Project Delivery team as well as the Technical Operations team taking the lead in all technology decisions.

The Technical Advisor role can be characterized as the organization’s “Architect” as it applies to the design and delivery of technology to the customer.


  • Support and participate in the sales process from the Proposal Stage, partnering with the assigned Account Manager, building an IT transition plan which contains a long term technology vision and a roadmap to reach it.  Enhance trust and credibility during the sales process, together with the Account Manager, by displaying a depth of understanding about the technology in the customer industry as it relates to the customer business goals.
  • Act as key point of contact for the Customer with respect to all technical aspects of Onboarding, Project Delivery and IT Planning (that is, all technology related issues).
  • Accountable for the overall health of the customer technology: interacts with other internal resources who have responsibility/accountability for the account-Technical Operations Manager, Account Manager, any assigned Project Delivery Leads-to maintain a high level understanding of technology vision; responsible for all high level technology related decisions, working collaboratively with the tactical execution of the vision in the other teams.
  • Build strong personal relationship with the appropriate resources within the customer account to build mutual trust and credibility. Maintain and display a thorough understanding of the customer’s business, challenges and technology to provide timely, high quality advice with respect to the technological opportunities to grow the account and to improve the customer’s productivity/profitability.
  • Responsible for the customer’s long term IT Plan,  the Technical Advisor must have a long term vision for his or her client’s technology detailed in an IT plan and budget which should be reviewed regularly with the client.
  • Responsible for creating the technology related sections of proposals in collaboration with the Account Manager. 
  • Assist Account Manager during technical discussion or proposal presentation with the client, as required.
  • Provide leadership and steering oversight during Onboarding at a technical level.
  • Provide leadership and steering direction for Project Execution at a technical level-overseeing the project at the high level and working in collaboration with internal team leaders/managers who have accountability for the deployment of resources and the management of their activities (Service Managers, Project Delivery Manager, Account Manager, etc.).
  • Stay “ahead of the curve” of technology developments in general , and specifically as it relates to clients’ specific industry and competitive environment, to ensure that the company’s service offering and IT vision stays competitive; identify significant trends in the industry and work with the organization to take advantage of these developments; develop areas of specialization to further enhance the organization’s perspective on future technological developments and provide additional depth of knowledge in the organization as a whole.
  • As one of the organization’s most senior technical resources, the Technical Advisor has an important role to play in developing, coaching and training other members of the organization on new technologies, applications and general trends in the industry; responsible for ongoing research and the development and implementation of formal and informal workshops or training sessions for the organization.


  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Strong communication skills, able to calmly instruct others on the appropriate action to take, even in stressful situations;
  • Ability to develop and manage client relationships;
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment;
  • Perfectly bilingual in both English and French, oral and written;
  • Attentive to detail, organized, structured;DEC or equivalent diploma.
