Security Technical Designer, Architecture & Design Technology

CORE ACCOUNTABILITY

Working within the Architecture & Design Technology team, the Security Technical Designer plays a leadership role for the direction and technical coordination of corporate security technology platforms, in collaboration with the IT security architecture team. He/she is accountable for the quality of the design and integration of solutions that meet technological and operational security guidelines. He/she steers and works in synergy with operational teams to implement environments.He/she also participates in efforts to diagnose and return operations to normal during breakdowns and/or more complex incidents, when required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the identification, selection and development of security solutions.
  • Participates in and advises analysts on solutions for creating and configuring environments that comply with project-initiative requirements.
  • Collaborates with and guides operations analysts and administrators to achieve an adequate technical solution for all parties that balances objectives related to security, architecture, operations, functional needs and project essentials.
  • Ensures that technical specifications are duly documented and approved by the parties involved.
  • Ensures that the integrity of operational solutions and risks of incidents caused by planned changes are managed properly according to user services goals.
  • Identifies the impacts of changes to PSP’s environments and documents solutions.
  • Delegates responsibilities to analysts and administrators on the operations team.
  • Manages the capacity and performance of assigned environments.
  • Clearly understands the needs of assigned initiatives.
  • Understands the interaction between systems under his/her control and other PSP systems.
  • Moderates debates and facilitates collaboration within teams.
  • Proactively manages technical risks and develops solutions for assigned platforms.
  • Identifies technical problems for these platforms and takes charge of developing solutions for them.
  • Defines the knowledge transfer strategy and ensures its implementation by operations teams.
  • Actively participates in implementation activities and provides post-implementation support.
  • Keeps abreast of technical trends and best practices in his/her areas of responsibility.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional security certification, a definite asset

Experience

  • Minimum eight to ten years of relevant technical experience, of which five years (minimum) were spent:

o As a security technology specialist

o In an infrastructure and security project delivery context

o Working in a highly virtualized environment using VMware technologies

o Working in a technological environment in which Microsoft technology was dominant

  • Experience in operations required
  • Experience in integrating solutions in the financial sector, an asset

Knowledge & Skills

  • The incumbent has practical experience in a large proportion of the fields below and has demonstrated a strong ability to learn and apply new subject matter throughout his/her career.
  • Good understanding of internal and network protocols, operating systems and common technologies, including: Windows, Azure, Office 365, Linux, VMware, Citrix, Cisco and AirWatch
  • Mastery of authentication and access management technologies such as: Active Directory, Azure AD, ADFS and WorkspaceOne
  • Understanding of several security technologies: CheckPoint, Splunk ES, Symantec EP, CrowdStrike, Nexpose and MS PKI
  • Understanding of cryptography principles and their applications (signatures, fingerprints, certificates, nonrepudiation, digital rights protection, etc.)
  • Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) and privileged access management (PAM) technologies and approaches
  • Understanding of system hardening concepts and processes
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cloud and mobile technologies and solutions that secure these technologies
  • Good knowledge of environments virtualized under Microsoft operating systems
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodology
  • Bilingual (French and English)
