Working on the Office Data Governance team is a unique opportunity to acquire a cross-sector understanding of the Bank and to work in an environment where you can excel, while building solid relationships with partners from a number of sectors. Our team uses an approach aimed at balancing value creation and risk management to support all the business lines of National Bank and its subsidiaries in soundly managing and governing their data.

Your main challenges:

  • Act as a guide and mentor on data governance for data owners, application managers, and their respective executives.
  • Promote the sound use of data in all projects/initiatives for the supported sectors by recommending sound management and data consumption practices.
  • Work closely with data practices leaders and their respective teams to ensure the effective application of best practices.
  • Identify data threats and opportunities in the various supported sectors in order to provide appropriate reports.
  • Write quarterly reports and present the results of the work completed to the officers and managers responsible.
  • Maintain a relationship built on trust with partners in supported sectors.
  • Analyze the problems encountered by working with the partners concerned to identify root causes and help identify innovative and achievable solutions to eliminate these causes.
  • Provide partners with regular, rigorous follow-up on the progress of the action plans developed following the identification of inadequacies or possible improvements and ensure the quality of documentation.

Target profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and ten (10) years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in a related field and seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Experience in risk management and/or external or internal audit, working in an advisory capacity with senior managers
  • CDMP designation, a significant asset
  • Proficiency in Excel essential and knowledge of data analysis tools (ACL, SAS or others), a major asset
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working on several files at the same time
  • Proven leadership, ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and ability to influence
  • Ability to analyze data and make diagnoses
  • Knowledge of Office 365 tools: SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Power BI, Teams and others, an asset
  • Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French), essential
