We are embarking on a major transformation of our HR Information Systems (HRIS) and are looking for a Payroll/HRIS Implementation Specialist to join our project team.We currently have multiple vendor systems and will be consolidating these into one HRIS platform which will initially include Core HR, Time and Attendance, Payroll, Recruitment and Onboarding.The Payroll Implementation Specialist will have a solid understanding of HR and Payroll business processes and will be the subject matter expert on all Payroll, Absence and Time Management related issues.Reporting to the Director Human Resources, the Payroll Implementation Specialist will lead the collaboration of cross-organizational Payroll teams to align on best practices and support the implementation of a new HRIS across the enterprise.LocationVancouver, Victoria, Calgary or Toronto (Remote Position)Key Responsibilities Serve as a key payroll subject matter expert to support requirements gathering, data and business process documentation to understand current state.Analyze requirements, data elements and pay processing rules and identify opportunities for standardization and process improvements.Work with the vendor, SME’s and other team members to design the future state for Payroll and Time processing to optimize the use of the software and align data structures and business rules where possible.Lead the data consolidation and ‘clean-up’, conversion, test case development and testing activities; specifically as it relates to payroll, scheduling and time management.Configure payroll, scheduling, and time tracking rules and tables to support business requirements.Create reports based on user requirements using a variety of methods including using built-in application reporting tools, Excel and other reporting tools.Create documentation for training new and existing users.

Required Skills and EducationEducation & ExperienceDegree or diploma in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required.Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years experience in payroll administration and extensive knowledge of payroll processing functions.Minimum five (5) years’ experience as an Implementation Specialist or Business Analyst with a focus on Payroll and Time and Attendance systems.Work experience in a manufacturing/shift work environment with a unionized workforce is considered an asset.SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills using an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems.Ability to manage multiple projects/assignments and work with a broad range of administrative, technical, and functional staff.Experience implementing HR/payroll systems with a focus on data conversion, integration, and testing.Extremely well organized and exceptional attention to detail.Advanced / expert knowledge of Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.Strong work ethic, customer service focus, and positive “can do” team attitude.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills required with demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner.Clearly understands how to assess the importance of tasks and decisions and set priorities; Focusing time/energy on the most important issues/opportunities.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.Able to handle challenging situations in a confidential, timely, and diplomatic manner.Able to manage and maintain private and confidential information with a high degree of professionalismPlease note The position is a one-year term position.
