Nurse (Expanded role)

This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted April 16, 2018.


WORKING SCHEDULE: The normal work schedule is on a rotation of 6 weeks: 3 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 3 weeks of rest.


Reporting to the Health Services Coordinator, the nurse assumes responsibility for an ensemble of nursing duties, in an expanded role, related to bio-psycho-social needs and offered to a group of individuals. In particular, this job addresses the following points:

Organizes the physical environment and care to respond to emergencies, such as : working at height, in confined spaces, extreme cold, and sometimes with limited resources;

Participates in the identification of clinical needs, collaborates in the implementation of awareness programs for various aspects of prevention; makes the required connections and case follow-up with the doctor or the Superintendent as requested;

Teaches the clientele (employees) on site;

Participates and oversees the management of a MEDEVAC, the orientation of new resources, maintaining the physical location safe and clean according to the expectations of the employer;

Involves itself at the community level by actively participating in the development of strategies to better support and support workers and by training and sensitizing workers in response to the observed health issues;

Ensures follow-up for disability cases (CNESST and Disabilities).


Member in good standing of the OIIQ and has a diploma in nursing. Holding a 1st cycle university degree would be considered an asset;

Having worked a minimum of ten (10) years in a emergency and/or occupational health setting with nursing skills and experience in an expanded role situation;

Valid driver’s licence;

Certification for first aid in the workplace or equivalent, WHMIS;

Have certification in ACLS, first responders or PHTLS ;

Be able to join an intervention brigade by participating in Emergency Measures on site;

Bilingualism essential (French and English).


Definite orientation towards the respect of health-safety and environment rules and guidelines;

Ability to work within a multicultural team and environment;

Ability to be independent, responsible, take reasonable initiatives, manage stress and ambiguities;

Ability to work alone and on a team effectively;

Prepared to work long hours;

Good planning and organizational skills;

Ability to make complex decisions, to influence, to act as an agent for change and to apply the best clinical judgement in connection with a medical situation.
