Advisor, Health & Safety

This is a Full-time position in Montreal, QC posted November 26, 2021.

The Health andamp; Safety Advisor plays a leading role in Health and Safety for their internal clients.

They act as an expert consultant to employees and managers on the standards, regulations and methods to be practiced in order to prevent accidents and injuries.

They develop and implement the uniform application of work injury prevention programs, Health and Safety training for employees and inspection in the Saint-Eustache plant.

They regularly distribute communications to employees.Tasks and Responsabilities Establish an annual plan and goals with their supervisor; Lead and facilitate the Health and Safety committee and ensure follow up of decisions; Ensure compliance with laws related to Health and Safety at work; Prepare and present various Health and Safety trainings to the production and administrative staff; Analyze accident records and follow up on corrective actions; Develop and update the required indicators and statistics; Carry out accident investigation and analysis with the HR Advisor – (mainly in Production); Accompany the HS Manager in the management of workplace accidents and occupational disease records as well as the temporary assignment program; Respond and provide assistance in case of emergencies; Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in OHS and prevention.

Analyze risks in the work environment and recommend prevention programs accordingly; Conduct inspections and audits, recommend corrective or preventive actions and monitor them; Identify the issues during equipment modifications; Coordinate equipment inspections with the Maintenance department (according to established frequency); Initiate and coordinate occupational accident prevention activities to involve managers.

Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management or equivalent.

Certificate in OHS or Industrial Hygiene.

5 years’ experience in HS as a Preventionist or OHS Advisor, ideally in a manufacturing context.

In-depth knowledge of Quebec OHS laws and regulations and administrative procedures.

Knowledge of OHS standards for pallet racks.

Mobilizing leadership.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both spoken and written English and French.

Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change.

Great autonomy and resourcefulness.

Dynamism, passion and commitment.

Strong knowledge of the MS Office suite.

Ability to travel (maximum of 5% of the time).
