Our client is looking for a Project Mine Engineer who will participate in the development of the projects including the development of related economic studies and trade-offs, mine design and optimization.

The project Mine Engineer will work closely and hand in hand with Technical Services Mining group to ensure the project meets corporate objectives in terms of corporate and technical development. He will provide expertise and support to project manager in developing the infrastructure and operating parameters for the implementation of the project. The incumbent will manage mining consultants and infrastructure engineering work as well as contribute to the optimization and improvement of current designs.

Responsibilities

Lead the mining design, equipment selection and mine optimization for the project. Participates in the completion of the studies and development of the economic model.

Uses advanced knowledge to assist the Project Manager in the technical and economic analysis of project.
Assists the Project Manager in the development of the business case and LOM for the project including optimization of both capital can operating costs and structure.
Innovates and implements best in class practice on projectEvaluates trade-off quickly and implements the solution with lowest impact to cost and schedule.
Find solutions to the technical challenges that project encompasses.
Proposes new methods to meet challenges of geology and geotechnical constraints.
Proposes and improves the design to address sustainable mining while remaining the most economically beneficial to the project
Develops mining plans, equipment selection and mining infrastructure that meets practical operation constraints and respects engagements as to the EA.Masters planning and design software to work closely with the consulting firm to properly evaluate the project.
Mentoring and advising team members on mining technical elements and working with team to find overall project solutions.
Act as a liaison with technical services and the engineering consultants retained on the project.
Other duties as required (ex. monthly reporting, scheduling and budgeting).

 

Lead and direct the Engineering Consultants in development of the mine design and provide the operating cost assumptions.

Develops operating philosophy for the project and basis of design with the Engineering Firm.
Prepares reports and written materials related to technical recommendation and improvements on the project.
Directs and prepares the scope of work and request for budget pricing related to mining equipment and infrastructure.
In particular fleet and mining support infrastructure (electricity, truck shop, fuelling)
Conducts research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve mining processes, technologies and methodologies used for the project.
Performs visits and audits of mines that are relevant to improving the design.
Seeks out 3rd party experts to render recommendations for improvement of specific elements of the project design.
Contributes to the establishment of engineering standards and procedures to be used on the project.
Establishes operational readiness and ramp up.Identifies training and development programs required to bring operation to performance standard.

 

Working with a team objective, innovate and validate mine design.

Keep abreast of trends in mine design and incorporate this information into project.
Provides new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
Delegates tasks to employees with less experience, mentoring and acts as an advisor in more complex situations.
Continuously seeking to improve technical knowledge and skills.

Skills
Mine engineer diploma.Member of a recognized engineer association.
Qualified person under NI-43-101 .
A minimum of 10 years of related work experience, in both office environments and in operation.
Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred.
Previous experience in a Team Lead or Senior Engineer position would be preferred.
Fluency in English is required and French is a significant asset.
Proficiency in computer applications and software, specifically MS Office, AutoCAD, mining software.
Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills.
Well organized, works well independently and in team settings, possesses good time-management skills, and is able to work effectively under pressure.
Strong understanding in best practice mine design and software, North American standards and deployment on large projects.
Ability to work with and effectively lead others in a team environment.
Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively delegate job duties.
