Manager -Electrical Engineering and Technology

St. Lawrence Seaway

This is a Contract position in Brossard, QC posted November 21, 2020.

Location: Brossard Province: Quebec Assignment : Permanent Role The Electrical Engineering (Operating Technology) Manager ensures that the Corporation derives maximum benefit from the application of technology and engineering projects for the Corporations operating facilities while working in an environment combining control and automation systems, engineering and technology.

Is accountable to provide the necessary leadership to his/her business unit, developing employees, building teamwork and relationships, both internally and externally to his/her unit, and in optimizing use of assigned resources, in order to ensure the achievement of his/her unit’s mandate and deliverables.

– In collaboration with other departments and/or regions, translate strategic and business needs into management decisions, practices, priorities and work assignments of the department.

– Manage the appropriate allocation of resources
– human, financial and physical assets
– for the optimal performance, safety and productivity of the unit.

– Lead and coach personnel towards the achievement of objectives
– of the Corporation, region and/or unit.

– Respect and work within the boundaries of legislative requirements, contractual agreements, resource allocations and the policies, procedures and/or standards of the SLSMC.

– Foster effective communications, positive working relationships within and outside of the work unit, and seek ongoing commitment to the Corporation’s vision and long term sustainability.

– Establish and lead the implementation of technical improvements, programs or projects based on industry best practices or standards, professional or technical codes and SLSMC policies.

– Carry out technical analyses, conceptual design and development of new programs or projects in order to meet the needs of the unit or of the region.

– Collaborate and share resources or knowledge with other disciplines/departments in the region or across the Corporation in order to achieve business unit/regional objectives or to gain efficiencies in the execution of its mandate.

– Minimum of 5(five) to 10(ten) years experience in a management role;
– Leading a multi-disciplinary team of Electrical and Control Engineers, Designers and Technicians
– Sound knowledge of applicable standards, rules, codes, procedures and safe work practices with respect to performing duties Education
– Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field Certifications
– Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver’s license and insurable driving record Hours of work: 37.5 per week Dedicated to the principles of employment equity.
