HDR: Civil Engineer

This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted May 28, 2021.

Company is currently seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer who has interest in expanding their career across multiple market sectors, technical innovation, project life cycle, and business areas, including client and business development.

This position is a key role for our growth in western Canada, providing project management, technical expertise, and supporting business development activities for a diverse set of markets, projects and clients within the Water, Resources and Transportation business groups.The successful candidate will be involved in project management, quality management, client relationships, identification of opportunities, field services, and will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to develop creative, high-quality design solutions.

The primary duties of this position include planning, managing, and monitoring all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity, including water, wastewater, environmental, solid waste, power, industrial, transit, and transportation projects.

The candidate will be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently.Primary Responsibilities Design and plan production for general civil on wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities Coordinate the design for facilities including coordinating multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, structural, architectural and electrical.

Perform quantity calculations, flow evaluations, develop equipment lists, asset management templates and other project documentation.

Prepare specifications and contract documents Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and Organizationification or standard engineering techniques and procedures Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed Function as technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed Conduct field inspection of civil and environmental works, prepare inspection reports and field records.

Interpreted contract clauses and review with the Contract Administrator.

Support construction projects through management of shop drawings, RFIs, Change Orders, progress payments in consultation with the Contract Administrator.Our ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, collaboration, new experiences, opportunities and exceeding client expectations.

Experience with complex multi-disciplinary construction sites is an asset.

Professional Engineer designation in Canada.

EIT designation is acceptable but candidate will be expected to obtain professional designation for career progression.

Proven experience managing projects, completing feasibility studies and alternatives analysis, design, performing site inspections, managing client relationships, proposal development, and business development.

Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.

Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, digital collaboration software such as Webex, BIM 360; etc; Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering such as Civil 3D, GIS, CAD, InRoads, Siteworks, HeCompanys, etc and project management software such as ProjectWise, etc.
