Designer Technician


This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted August 6, 2018.


Passionate about design, the designer technician will use his/her skills to prepare technical documents and presentations such as mood boards, plans, elevation drawings and FF&E (movable furniture, fixtures and equipment) layouts, while taking into account client-approved designs.

Key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Consulting with the project manager to obtain pertinent information about the project
  • Developing preliminary plans according to established designs
  • Specifying materials and furnishings, such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring and plumbing fixtures
  • Maintaining the integrity of the CAD file and folder structures as per industry best practices
  • Setting up and/or updating and/or maintaining item references and cross-references as part of drawings and specifications booklets
  • Organizing PDF, CAD and hard copies according to various deliverables
  • Consulting our in-house materials library and documentation centre, catalogues, suppliers and online resources in order to identify and specify projects’ finishes, fixtures, etc.
  • Reviewing and validating project specifications and details
  • Preparing specifications booklets and sample boards
  • Identifying constraints, analyzing solutions and actively communicating with project teams
  • Sharing information with project consultants and teams
  • Assisting with the preparation of information necessary to the production of 3D perspectives, in concert with the 3D team.


  • College diploma in interior design
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD software and Microsoft Office environment
  • Excellent understanding of building materials, finishes, decoration and FF&E
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (written and spoken)
  • Ability to manage priorities and schedules
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Autonomous with an impeccable sense of organization
