We are seeking a Documentation Team Manager to lead the Documentation Team. You will manage a small team of technical writers who write content for user documentation and validation documents for the end user. Your team’s responsibilities range from editing UI text to writing reference docs.

The ideal candidate has outstanding people management skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality deliverables. Previous experience in one of the following is considered an asset: technical documentation experience, Project management, Packaging machinery or experience in a Pharmaceutical environment.

The successful candidate will interface broadly, oversee the process by which content is finalized, develop and maintain tools that support the writing effort, and advise on regulatory and technical risks leading to well developed content.

The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on the customer experience combined with technical communication skills and cross-team leadership.

Job Responsibilities

Manage, develop and grow a team of technical writers with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. Work with other departments to identify documentation needs. Define writing projects and set goals for documenting new features and for improving the quality of existing documentation. Review documents for accuracy and style and ensure all publication standards are met by following established procedures. Develop and maintain internal processes and tools that support efficient and accurate document writing and lifecycle maintenance Contribute to effective planning of the Writing Team resource allocation to support a range of programs and supporting submissions Foster a collaborative environment and contribute to a positive, dynamic, high-energy organization Evolve and uphold standards and best practices for product documentation processes and content effectiveness, impact, and maintainability. Maintain the catalog for product documentation content. Manage practices to support content publication from a variety of contributors. Measure and use key metrics (e.g. content age and usage) for planning and improvement. Collaborate positively with all stakeholders. Exercise effective leadership for these responsibilities within the product organization. Contribute to strategic direction for effective self-learning solutions. Actively lead in Continuous Improvement initiatives specifically related to the department.
5 years in one of the following : project Management, technical writing / documentation or Pharmaceutical environment.. Outstanding attention to detail, especially regarding formatting and grammar. Intelligence, creativity, and the ability to rapidly learn a complex and wide-ranging program. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated capacity for problem solving and identifying solutions Must work independently and be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects Proven work experience aligned with the responsibilities of the role. Excellent English writing and mixed communication skills (e.g. drawings, graphics, etc.) with experience and ability to educate and improve the work of others. A strong asset: Experience with relevant technical tools and environment including authoring tools, , communication best practices, style/format/structure guidelines, visualization techniques, best practices for content translation, etc.. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus. Self-driven with ability and initiative to identify needs and drive activities.
