Payroll Technician

This is a Full-time position in Montréal, QC posted February 1, 2019.

Millésime is currently looking for a Payroll Technician for one of its clients, a leading manufacturer/retailer who sells interior decoration items.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Technician is responsible for fast, efficient and accurate payroll processing for all employees in the company both in Canada and the United States. As such, he interacts with employees on a daily basis and applies payroll procedures in accordance with government laws and corporate policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll:

  • Responsible for the capture and processing of payroll data of all permanent and contract employees;
  • Continuous interaction with managers and human resource advisors to obtain, clarify or correct the information received;
  • Ensures the application of laws and internal policies;
  • Coordinates the various steps related to payroll preparation and conducts appropriate checks to produce payroll;
  • Ensures compliance of banked hours (vacation, sick days, etc.);
  • Responsible for month-end transactions submitted to the accounting and validates government remittances;
  • Participate in the year-end processes (ex. T4, Summaries, validation of banked hours, CSST, etc.);
  • Prepares and analyzes various reports according to established processes or requests made;
  • Acts as a resource person for employees and for accounting for any questions related to payroll results;
  • Follow up with the various levels of government;
  • Identifies and proposes possible improvements to the processes in place;
  • Performs any other related tasks.

Group insurance and other benefits :

  • Informs employees of their group insurance programs;
  • Enrols employees in group insurance plan and RRSP;
  • Responds to employee requests and questions related to payroll and benefits offered by the company;
  • Checks the monthly bill of the insurer and submits the analysis to the accounting department.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • 3 to 5 years in payroll management;
  • Bilingual (English and French);
  • Payroll Compliance Specialist (PCS) of the Canadian Payroll Association;
  • Knowledge of Workforce Now (ADP), an asset;
  • Very good knowledge of Excel;
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;
  • Attention to detail, precision and speed;
  • Ability to process confidential information;
  • Ability to work with short delivery times and under pressure;
  • Strong priority management skills;
  • Good team player.
