The FA is a key member of the strong and extremely collaborative Pursuit Finance & Accounting Team.

The FA will be the VP Lodging”s “right-hand person” in all aspects of the day-to-day financial management, including P&L responsibility, for eleven lodging properties across Banff and Jasper in Alberta, Canada.

This position can be based in either Banff or Jasper.The FA”s overall mandate is to provide accurate insight and direction about the organization”s financial performance and future opportunities in order to profitably execute our ambitious and globally focused growth strategy.

The FA will ensure that all key leaders and stakeholders are provided accurate and timely information that drives progress toward shared goals, and facilitates effective decision making across the enterprise both operationally and strategically.The FA will focus on guiding the company”s future growth, working in tight collaboration with shared services teams, operational leaders and functional leaders in marketing, sales, technology, revenue management and people & culture.

He or she will lead all lodging monthly reporting, forecasting and budgeting processes, and prepare financial performance materials and presentations with emphasis on creating insight to root cause of financial performance and future opportunities and expectations.

The FA will take an active role in managing achievement of EBITDA targets, diligent expense management of operating and capital budgets, provide analysis for growth capital initiatives, and integrating new hospitality experiences into the portfolio.Partner with operational leadership to develop the annual financial planDrive the monthly reforecasting process with a strong focus on forecast accuracy while avoiding surprises and unplanned variancesLead the month-end close process, partnering with accounting, payroll and business operators across geographies and business segmentsMaintain the long-range financial plan as a multi-year outlook for maintenance capital needs by propertyMaintain labor, COGS and variable models to stay out front of risks that may adversely impact marginsAnticipate and provide thoughtful and insightful ad hoc analysis to the business on an as-needed basis to address a variety of timely and impactful business challenges and opportunitiesManage the capital expenditure approval process, assisting operations teams with authorization for expenditure (AFE) requests and maintaining the company”s capital spend forecastWork to improve the financial acumen of business partners, enabling them to identify opportunities in their financial performance and execute against targetsDevelop and maintain models to inform expected return on investment on future capital investments and new business opportunitiesSuggest finance process improvements that will inform leadership and ensure a forward-thinking approach to reporting and business partnershipWhat skills and experience do you need for this job?:Highly analytical and orientation to intellectual honesty; natural tendency to ask “why” and to investigate to address unresolved questionsStrong command of Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling)Additional experience using SQL, Power BI, or other analytical capabilities a plusExperience overseeing departmental P&Ls, both revenue and cost centers, with frequent direct interaction with the business owners of eachAbility to communicate financial results, projections, variances and plans effectively in both Excel and PowerPointExperience working in a business decision-support capacityBachelor”s degree or equivalent experience or certification (CPA/CFA/MBA) related to finance or accounting with 1-5 years of experienceCritical Competencies for SuccessStrong commitment to business partnership and working as a team with an ability to foster strong working relationships spanning a variety of business functions and responsibilitiesOperates with a strong sense of urgency, consistently striving to deliver actionable financial information to decision-makers as quickly and accurately as possibleDemonstrates a clear courage and willingness to lead and to share the “gift of financial literacy” with non-financial operators, taking the time to explain concepts and best practices in sound financial managementPossesses a natural curiosity to understand the story behind the numbers, a willingness to challenge the status quo and desire to improve process efficiency and effectivenessLeads by example and always with sound judgement and integrity; communicates with a high degree of intellectual honestyVery high sense of self-awareness, being resourceful, resilient, and adaptable, while knowing when to ask for help when neededExcellent written and verbal communication skillsTravel between Pursuit geographies will be required, both domestically and internationally.
